We take pride in our rich heritage spanning four generations. Internal archives and documents show Arab Transit held operations prior to the 1930s, handling cargo destined from/ to Transjordan via nearby ports like Beirut and Haifa. During that era Transjordan did not have a commercial port. Post the Jordanian independence of 1946, Arab Transit is official registered as a Jordanian limited liability Company on 18/10/1952 under the registration no. 68. Arab Transit was founded by a group of prominent businessmen, who led establishments across different industries in the region, the late Mr. Rashad Toukan was one of the shareholders. In the decade after his late son Mr. Mamoun Toukan, a known businessman and entrepreneur, took control of Arab Transit's management and acquired a majority stake, and has expanded the scope of services.

In the early 1950s, Arab Transit became part of Aqaba’s history, handling the first commercial vessel of 3,000MT of bagged sugar to call the Port of Aqaba. Since then, the Company’s management have continuously strived to support the ports development in Aqaba and promote the city as a gateway for Jordan and beyond.

By the early 1990s, Mr. Rashad Toukan became Arab Transit’s Managing Director, and the Toukan family represented most of the board and continued their focus on becoming industry specialists and providing efficient shipping and logistics solutions. Mr Rashad has accumulated over 35 years of experience in shipping and logistics, and has served in multiple board positions, including as a board member on the Jordan Shipping Association, Aqaba Ports Corporation, and Aqaba Container Terminal (operated by APM Terminals).

As the fourth generation family members join the Company, Arab Transit continues to accumulate a wealth of experience and a network of contacts, while innovating in processes and technology, which translates to operational efficiency and results to our clients. The Company has been a pioneer in handling bulk grain vessels, introducing cloud solutions that provide real time access and visibility to loading information, thus helping receivers better allocate resources. Arab Transit took the success of tech integration in handling bulk vessels and applied it across the organization to all services, helping the Company better support and mange the clients supply chain.

Today, Arab Transit has positioned itself to offer more than just logistics services, but rather solutions that have direct impact on supply chains, via consultancy, tech integration or 4PL.
